We're here to help you find relief from tooth pain. We'll listen to your concerns, conduct a thorough exam, and create a personalized treatment plan just for you.

Symptoms of Tooth Pain

Tooth pain can manifest in various ways, depending on the underlying cause. Here are some common symptoms:

Treatment Options for Tooth Pain

Fillings

Cavities can cause tooth pain and sensitivity. For cavity related tooth pain, we clean the cavity and use fillings to repair the damage and prevent future problems.

Root Canals

Depending on your tooth pain, a root canal may be necessary. Root canal treatments can alleviate the pain and eliminate the need for tooth extraction. Our dentists are skilled in performing this procedure, and we use advanced techniques to minimize discomfort and ensure a positive experience.

Extractions

Saving your natural teeth is our priority, but sometimes an extraction is needed. When an extraction is needed we often can get you in for a same day treatment to help alleviate your pain. Once your pain is gone, we can work with you on replacing extracted teeth.

Tooth Pain Prevention

Tooth pain can be a frustrating and uncomfortable experience. Fortunately, there are several steps you can take to prevent tooth pain and maintain a healthy smile.

“Fast, friendly, and efficient experience. In and out taking care of 4 cavities in 20 minutes. Almost painless... that first numbing shot is all I had to endure. Professional staff and very personable. Highly recommended!”
U K.

" The people were so nice. I got my first tooth extraction and it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. They made it go smoothly and as pain free as they could making sure I was numbed up enough and stuff. And that was just from a walk in. I didn't expect them to remove my tooth so soon. Thanks!!!"
Kayla.

“The Doctors and the staff at Meridian Dental are the best! I’m always treated with kindness (like I’m a member of the family), my questions are thoroughly answered, &, best of all, I’m not afraid anymore to go to the dentist b/c they are very gentle & aware of the pain their clients feel! Another bonus, called yesterday with pain when eating & they got me in today - not 4 weeks away! Thanks Meridian!”

"Dr. Piper and staff are always so comforting. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a new dentist. My visits are pain free and quick, thank you!"
Bailey D.

“Outstanding pain-free as much as getting teeth pulled can be. Thanks I highly recommend them for all your dental needs.”
Alaskanlifeform.

"As much as I hate going to the dentist, the beautiful ladies in the reception, the doctors assistant Brittany and the doctor were all great. Put a crown on my tooth without any pain. They make it a little easier to return for more work. Went in for another crown and two fillings. I had the two cavities fixed. I didn't get the crown that I thought I was going to get. My tooth was broken. I told the Doctor to pull it. It made more sense to me than trying a crown and have to get it pulled later if the crown didn't work. I was still amazed that it was painless. The Doctors, Dental Techs and Staff are all great people. They honestly do make going to the dentist enjoyable, well maybe not enjoyable but very pleasant. It's also affordable. To everyone at Meridian Dental, Thank You for all of your care."
James M.

“My first visit with Dr. Kris and I left way impressed! His needlework was excellent, my crown and fillings were painlessly taken care of, his assistant was awesome, the facilities were clean and his office staff was super friendly. They have all the up-to-date goodies and have obviously spared no expenses to treat their patients with the best care and tools possible. If you’re new to the Valley and looking for a dentist, look no further!”
Danny U.

"Was able to get in fast . Was offered to have all my work done in one day (even though I was unable to stay) I got a second appointment within a couple weeks same day and time as my husband . Was able to get fitted for a guard . Was quick and painless . If I was uncomfortable they made sure to help me."
Denali P.

“Dr. Gurr was the greatest dentist I have ever been to. His staff and Dr. Gurr himself have made me feel really comfortable and has let me know what was going on step by step. He has made sure during all my procedures that I was not in any pain. Dr. Gurr was very patient and gentle when it came to getting my dentures fixed and placed so I could have a happy beautiful smile again. Dr. Gurr is the most outstanding dentist I have ever been to, thank you Meridian dental for all your help and care.”
Lenny J.

"This dental office is amazing!! I loved the Heated massage dental chairs and they even brought me a blanket because I was a little cold. I was so comfortable the entire time I was being worked on. They have the sweetest Hygienists and they are so gentle. I have a really bad receding gum line and they were super careful not to cause me any pain. Dr. Gurr is amazing! Love and recommend this office x100!"
Lindsey R.

“I have been going to Meridian Dental since I moved to the valley in 2017. I have been so happy with their service- I even went ahead and scheduled my two children (Ages 4 & 3) to have their teeth cleaned there from now on. The staff has always been too kind and accommodating to everyone that has came through their door, including myself. At most dental clinics I have been too in the past, I have bled during my cleaning and dealt with pain while having my teeth cleaned due to the hygienist, but never at Meridian. They are very careful and make sure you’re as comfortable as possible at all times. I can not recommend this dental office enough!”
Elizabeth B.

"My fiancé went in today for tooth pain. They are able to diagnose and treat her same day. No long waiting. They extracted her tooth and had her on her way in no time. She is super thankful for them. Will definitely be using them as our primary dental office from now on."
Nathan P.

Tooth Pain FAQs

Tooth pain can have many causes, including cavities, gum disease, tooth infections, cracked teeth, and sensitivity. Other issues like grinding your teeth or having something stuck between your teeth can also lead to pain.

You should see a dentist if the pain is severe, lasts more than a day or two, is accompanied by swelling or fever, or if you notice a bad taste in your mouth. These symptoms can indicate a more serious issue that needs prompt treatment.

If your tooth hurts when exposed to cold, it may be due to tooth sensitivity, which can happen when the enamel is worn down, or the gums recede, exposing the underlying dentin. It could also signal a cavity, a cracked tooth, or other dental issues.

For temporary relief, you can rinse your mouth with warm salt water, take over-the-counter pain relievers, or use a cold compress on your cheek. However, it’s important to see a dentist to address the root cause of the pain.

Yes, stress can lead to tooth pain, especially if you grind or clench your teeth (a condition known as bruxism). Over time, this can cause tooth sensitivity, pain, and even damage to your teeth.

Intermittent tooth pain may indicate a problem like a small cavity, cracked tooth, or sinus-related issues. It’s best to consult your dentist for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan.

Tooth sensitivity is usually a sharp, quick pain triggered by hot, cold, sweet, or acidic foods. Tooth pain, on the other hand, is often a more constant, throbbing ache that can indicate a deeper issue like infection or decay.

While some mild toothaches may improve temporarily, the underlying problem often remains and can worsen over time. It’s best to see a dentist to find out what’s causing the pain and prevent further complications.

Not always. Tooth pain can result from various issues, such as gum disease, cracked teeth, infections, or even sinus problems. A dental examination is needed to determine the exact cause.

Yes, tooth pain can sometimes indicate other health issues like sinus infections, heart conditions, or nerve problems. It’s important to consult a dentist or doctor if you’re experiencing unexplained or severe tooth pain.

To prevent tooth pain, practice good oral hygiene by brushing twice a day, flossing daily, and visiting your dentist regularly for checkups and cleanings. Avoid sugary foods and drinks, and use toothpaste for sensitive teeth if needed.
